The FA peoples cup is a free to enter competition with 18 categories of competition featuring male and female disability categories that are then separated again into disability classification. The peoples cup features tournaments of football across the country mostly played on 3g pitches that amateur players can take part in.
This competition is a great idea to consider taking part in for someone with special educational needs as it offers healthy competition but in a fair ability classified setting and there is no pressure to get a team together, players can enter solo which gives them the opportunity to meet others in similar situations to them and help them to develop their cooperation skills and make new friends in their teammates.
Friends and families are welcome and encouraged to go spectate and support people they know playing in the tournament, not only will the supporters enjoy a fun day out the players on the field will receive a huge confidence boost seeing familiar faces and being cheered on from the sidelines.
The peoples cup in relation to SEN provides an opportunity to create life long friends and memories of the time spent competing and can be very beneficial in developing life skills for people with special needs which is why it is such a good concept as it is inclusive and allows everyone to take part fairly.
There is also a chance to win some great prizes which encourages a competitive spirit. The winners this year won tickets to the 2018 Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium and one player from each successful team had the opportunity to lift their trophy on the Wembley Stadium pitch at half time.
